quick fix for lower back pain

Your lower back is the anchor of the core support system for the entire body. Keeping it strong and stable isn't just about looking good - it's about making sure that you have adequate strength to bend, twist, and lift. A bad back can come about from simply lifting a heavy box incorrectly or having some muscular imbalances, so ensuring you have not only strong muscles in the lower back but also good mobility around the hips is essential.

You Should

  • Ensure that the muscles being stretched are thoroughly warmed-up

  • Stretch at the end of your training session

  • Relax

  • Breathe easily

  • Hold each stretch for a minimum of 30 seconds

  • Follow an all-over body program for stretching to avoid postural imbalances

  • Follow correct technique

  • Avoid pain, stretching should never be painful

You Shouldn’t

  • Try and stretch cold muscles - it’s a recipe for injury

  • Stretch before your warm-up or workout

  • Bounce or rock whilst holding a stretch - you could overstretch and cause an injury

  • Hold a stretch for just a few seconds

  • Hold your breath

  • Focus on just leg stretches or just upper body stretches
