Frequently Asked Questions:

  • 1. How is Get Me Fitter different from a regular gym or personal trainer in Christchurch?

We’re not a commercial gym filled with influencers and egos. Get Me Fitter is a Christchurch Gym - designed for people who want expert coaching, customised training plans, and real support in a welcoming, non-intimidating environment. No fads. No fluff. Just smart training that works.

  • 2. Where is your gym located, and when can I train?

We’re based in Addington, Christchurch - easy to get to from nearby suburbs like Sydenham, Spreydon, Merival, Fendalton and Riccarton. Members have access to the gym from 5am to 11pm, 7 days a week. Our Christchurch personal trainers are on the floor throughout the day to support you, not just hand you a towel.

  • 3. I’m a busy professional with limited time - will this still work for me?

Absolutely. Our personal training is designed for real life. We focus on short, effective sessions you can fit around work, family, and other commitments. Whether you train with us 1-on-1 or follow a plan at your own pace, you’ll get results without wasting time. It's “gym near me convenience”, with expert support built in.

  • 4. I’m over 40 and haven’t trained in years - is that a problem?

Not at all. In fact, over 40s fitness is our speciality. Many of our clients start from scratch or are coming back after time away. We focus on strength training that meets you where you're at, with progressions you can actually stick to. No hype, no pressure - just expert coaching, tailored to your body and life stage.

  • 5. Can your personal trainers help with injuries or health conditions?

Yes - we’re known for our injury-friendly workouts. Whether you’ve had past surgeries, chronic pain, or health concerns, our Christchurch-based personal trainers are experienced in adapting training plans safely. You’ll get stronger without making things worse - and feel a whole lot better in the process

  • 7. How do I get started at your gym in Addington?

It’s simple. Book a free Discovery Session where we assess how you move, what you need, and how we can help. No pressure, no gimmicks - just a clear plan built around your goals. We’ll explain how getting you set up to work solo or whether 1-on-1 coaching or suits you best.

  • 8. Do I need to follow a strict diet to get results?

Nope. Our approach to nutrition coaching is all about real food, not restriction. You’ll get practical advice that fits your life, including meal ideas and accountability if you need it. No cutting carbs. No detox teas. Just sustainable nutrition that supports your training and lifestyle.

  • 9. What’s the difference between semi-private and one-on-one personal training?

In semi-private personal training, you can train with up to 3 others - but each person follows their own plan. You still get personalised attention, but with more affordability. If you prefer 1-on-1 sessions, or have high considerations when it comes to exercise, we offer that too. Both options include expert coaching, support, and structure.

  • 10. How often should I train each week?

Most of our clients train 2–3 times per week, which is plenty to see real progress. We’ll help you find your minimum effective dose - so you’re not wasting time or burning out. Whether you’re focused on over 40s fitness, strength training for beginners, or injury rehab, your program will match your life and goals.

  • 11. What kind of results can I expect from your personal training in Christchurch?

Most people feel stronger, move better, and have more energy within weeks. Our clients typically lose body fat, gain muscle, and rebuild confidence - all without obsessive dieting or extreme workouts. This is personal training built for long-term change, not short-term gimmicks.

  • 12. Is there support between training sessions?

Yes - you’ll get access to our training app so you can track your sessions and progress even when you’re not in the gym. Plus, our team is just a message away for feedback, motivation, or tweaks to your plan. Whether you're training in person or doing part of it on your own, you’ll never feel like you're going it alone.
